Join Bruce McBarnette and friends on a hike as we celebrate Bruce being selected as Master Athlete of the Year for his age group. This is the 11th year he has received the honor.
We will hike the Soapstone Valley trail to the historic Pierce Mill in Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC. After the hike we visit the Washington DC Sukyo Mahikari Center were we will enjoy refreshments and where some of us will receive a relaxing, revitalizing form of energy called “light” from Sukyo Mahikari practitioners. Everything including the refreshments are free.
We will meet at 2pm at the Entrance to the Soapstone Valley Trail which is on Albemarle Street near the intersection of Albermarle and 32nd Street, about 450 feet east of Connecticut Avenue., NW. We will take the trail to Rock Creek and walk to Pierce Mill, a historic stone mill, and then return. The hike is about 2.4 miles and we should be done by 3:30pm.
After the hike, we will go to the Mahikari Center, which is around the corner from the entrance to the Soapstone Valley Trail at 4479 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20008. The website is http://sukyomahikari.org ..

In conjunction with Mr. Bruce McBarnette, Summit Connection, LLC, The Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Center Advisory Committee presents the Inaugural Coffield Advisory Board Art Show.
Come out to see a variety of art featuring local artists from Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, Washington, DC & Virginia.
Artists: Jenne Glover, Michelle Potter, Keith Subani, Ishmawiyl Claiborne and Donna Shields-Drawing.
The artists will donate 30% of their sales to the Coffield Community Center Advisory Board Fund.

Join Bruce McBarnette and the Rotary Clubs of Arlington for the 17th Annual Rotary Monte Carlo Night on FRIDAY, November 7, 2014. It will once again be at the beautiful Fairview Park Marriott. This black-tie optional evening of fun, food, excitement and prizes will again feature dancing to the wonderful 19 piece The Loudon Jazz Ensemble!
Monte Carlo Night provides the funds that the Rotary Clubs of Arlington, McLean, Dunn Loring and Tysons Corner use to benefit civic projects as well as dozens of students through their academic scholarships and vocational assistance funds. This includes assisting the Alzheimer's Family Day Care Center, the Pimmit Hills Senior Center and Alternative House Teen Shelter as well as providing college scholarships for graduating high school students. Your support will make a real difference in the lives of children and senior citizens in Northern Virginia.

Ivy Singles Princeton representative Bruce McBarnette is hosting a hike of Billy Goat Trail A to celebrate his setting a new USA record in the high jump for his age group at the USA Masters Track and Field Championships at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. All are invited. There is no cost.
3.6 mile hike. We will meet at 1:30pm at the water fountain that is across the street from Old Angler's Inn, 10801 MacArthur Blvd, Potomac, MD 20854. We will hike north on the C and O Canal and enter the north entrance of Billy Goat Trail A which will take us south back to our starting point. This hike is difficult if you have balance issues or fear of heights. Please wear hiking shoes/ boots, and bring water. Pets are not allowed. 3 mile hike. We will meet at the Angler's Inn, 10801 MacArthur Blvd, Potomac, MD 20854 and hike down the Brown Creeper Conn. and Donaldson Run trails to the Potomac Heritage trail, along the river for 1/2 to 3/4 mile, and back. At the start of the hike, there will be presentations about the geology and forestry of the area.
