Sterling resident Bruce McBarnette, shown here in a 2005 event, set a new world record for the high jump in the ages 45-and-over division with a jump of 6 feet, 4 3/4 inches Jan. 29, at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Center in Maryland. McBarnette has won 13 USA Track and Field National Masters Championships.
